As we get into Maine’s wedding season, we would like to share a few tips for you to get the most out of your nuptials. No doubt, you will have been in contact with your florist many times from when you first start planning up until the week before. With all the details you have to keep track of, don’t miss the opportunity to preview your flowers!
Floral Previews
Flowers are a natural product and as such will vary in color, size and texture. It’s much better to see the arrangements 2-3 days prior to the event then to be surprised with the variations. In some cases, most florists can make minor changes, but expect to be billed for the additional work and product. No one likes surprises on their wedding day, it’s best to get the details worked out ahead of time.
Wedding Day Schedule
The week of your wedding, be sure to go over the schedule of events with your florist (and other vendors as well!) When & where will the personal flowers be delivered? What time is the reception? When will the caterer be setting up the tables?
Do you have flowers on the cake? When will the cake be delivered? Who is responsible for getting the flowers to the caterer?
Work with your florist to be sure your day is seamless.
Wedding Rentals
If you are renting items, like vases or lanterns who is responsible for returning the items? When do they need to be returned? Should they be clean? Is there a fee if they are dirty and/or late? Make sure you understand and find someone (Mom & Dad, Best Man, In laws) to return the items since you will be on your honeymoon.

Administrative Professionals Week is commonly know as a ‘Hallmark’ holiday. The truth is the holiday - formerly known as Secretary’s Day was founded in 1952 by the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP). The IAAP started this holiday to recognize the contribution which administrative professionals make to the public and private sector. They also wanted to encourage recent graduates to take an interest in the profession.
In this, the 56th year, say ‘thanks’ to those who support you & your business year round.
Administrative Professionals Week April 20-26, 2008
There is a special connection with plants, which employers can use to promote a healthy work environment. There have been numerous studies linking employee health with an increase in greenery within the workspace. There recently was a Dutch study showing an increase in worker productivity with an increase of green plants in the working environment.
Plants contribute to an improved environment by:
A European hospital study showed a reduction in employee absenteeism due to illness was reduced from 15% to 5% within 6 months, when plants were placed near workers’ computer screens. Five years later, sick leave leveled off at has around 5.5%. Plants actually help reduce common complaints like fatigue, headaches and the irritation of mucous (nasal) membranes.
New construction and renovations are the most susceptible environments to indoor pollution. As paints dry and carpets age, fumes released can irritate allergies and lead to decrease worker productivity.
Do your bit for greening the indoor space!
